Fee for Domestic vs international students
Domestic students: paying by census date (or FEE-HELP paperwork)
AIH’s Fees and Charges policy says domestic students don’t pay a tuition deposit to secure a place. They must pay tuition on or before the census date for each unit, or submit a valid eCAF by census date to access FEE-HELP (if eligible).
PickMyUni tip: if you’re unsure what applies to you (invoice timing, eCAF steps, study load), message PickMyUni and we’ll help you sanity-check it before you commit.
International students: deposits, CoE rules, and the 50% cap
AIH’s policy says international students who accept an offer are required to pay a non-refundable enrolment fee and a tuition deposit (see Appendix 1), and a CoE is issued once the required initial payment clears.
AIH also states that under ESOS rules, students aren’t required to pay more than 50% of total course fees as a deposit before course commencement (they can choose to pay more).
Minimum initial deposit guide
AIH publishes deposit rules as “X units + Enrolment Fee (E.F)” (minimums).
Offshore + initial visa applicants (CoE issuance):
UG (South Asia / Middle East / Africa): 8 units + E.F
UG (Other markets): 2 units + E.F
PG (South Asia / Middle East / Africa): 6 units + E.F
PG (Other markets): 2 units + E.F
Onshore applicants (CoE issuance):
UG & PG: 1 unit + E.F
What it looks like in dollars (using AIH’s current published per-unit fees):
UG 8 units: AUD$17,050–AUD$18,090 (8×AUD$2,100–AUD$2,230 + AUD$250)
PG 6 units: AUD$16,330–AUD$17,590 (6×AUD$2,680–AUD$2,890 + AUD$250)
2 units + AUD$250: UG AUD$4,450–AUD$4,710 | PG AUD$5,610–AUD$6,030
2026 key dates that affect your fees
At AIH, fee due dates and census dates change by block/study period. For example, AIH lists for 2026 Summer School: Fees Due Date (Mon 5 Jan 2026) and Census Date (Mon 26 Jan 2026), and for Semester 1 Block 1: Fees Due Date (Mon 2 Feb 2026) and Census Date (Mon 2 Mar 2026).
Refunds & withdrawals
AIH’s 2025.1 refund policy includes these high-impact rules:
Domestic: withdraw on or before census date → 100% upfront tuition refunded and no FEE-HELP debt.
International (visa refused before commencement): refund of tuition fees paid less AUD$500 admin fee (with conditions).
International (after CoE issued):
28 days or more before course start: tuition paid less 50% of fees due for the first 4 units
Less than 28 days before course start: tuition paid less 75% of fees due for the first 4 units
On/after commencement: no refund
AIH also states approved refunds are paid within 28 days.
